Press Release: Team Amani Statement on Incident at Race Around Rwanda
Team Amani is committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity and sportsmanship. In light of recent events surrounding the 2025 Race Around Rwanda, we fully support the decision of the race organizers to disqualify Kenneth from the event.
Early in the race, Kenneth sustained an injury and was advised to withdraw if the pain persisted. Unfortunately, he chose to continue racing, which led to him breaking race rules. At Team Amani, we do not compromise on integrity. It is in moments of challenge—when tired, injured, or under pressure—that the true character of an athlete is tested. These are the moments that matter the most.
Team Amani acknowledges that these are lessons often learned the hard way, and this will undoubtedly be a difficult one for Kenneth. However, we hope this serves as a powerful lesson for the young riders on our team: there is no shortcut to excellence.
As a result of this incident Kenneth has been suspended from the team for one-year without pay. Team Amani will be focused on competing at the highest levels of Gravel and Road racing. For 2025 and beyond, Team Amani will be focused on the growth and development of our riders, and will continue to foster an environment where integrity and fair competition are at the forefront of our mission.
