East Africa’s Team Amani Grows its Presence in African Cycling

Tigray, Ethiopia – March 4, 2025

Team Amani is excited to announce the debut of its women’s squad at the Tour of Tigray Women’s Road Race this week, marking a significant step forward for the team and for women’s cycling in East Africa. Following the men’s squad participation in the Tour of Rwanda last week, this race represents the team’s first official road race for the women.

The Tour of Tigray Women’s Road Race is more than just a race—it’s a powerful symbol of hope, unity, and the remarkable growth of African cycling. With riders from Team Amani and other teams from the region, the women of African cycling are coming together to race through the stunning landscapes of Tigray, demonstrating the growing talent and potential within African cycling.

Team Amani is excited to begin this next chapter with the women’s squad at the Tour of Tigray. This is an important moment for us and for women’s cycling in Africa. We are inspired by the strength of these riders and look forward to the journey ahead as we continue to promote unity and growth through the sport of cycling.

The team is looking forward to what lies ahead as they continue to build on their presence in the sport. The women’s squad is represented by riders from Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda and DRC.
